Grants Allocation

Initiated since 2004, Grants Allocation is part of AmCham’s annual community activities. The program aims to support smaller Local Organizations in Ho Chi Minh City area and southern Vietnam that may not have easy access to large grants from international foundations. Simultaneously, AmCham Grants Allocation also provides a bridge for entrepreneurs and students from AmCham Scholars Alumni/ae (ASA) to give back to the community.

The AmCham Grants Allocation Team consisted of more than 15 Vietnamese volunteers from AmCham companies’ staff and AmCham Scholars Alumni/ae. All members are working under the mission “of Vietnamese people, by Vietnamese people, and for Vietnamese people.”

The fund that AmCham allocated for Scholarship Program and Charity projects was raised from AmCham Governors’ Ball.

World Blood Donor Day

Annually on 14 June, countries worldwide will celebrate World Blood Donor Day with events to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.

Up to 2011, there are 62 countries having blood transfusion services based entirely on voluntary blood donation, up from 39 in 2002. In Vietnam, since the Government’s approval of the national program for encouraging voluntary blood donation in 2000, blood donation has been steadily increased. However, the current blood donation level only meets 40% of demand.

International Coastal Cleanup

With Vietnam’s long coastline, we are all connected to the ocean. Trash that falls from our hands is one of the most pervasive pollution problems facing our world’s ocean. But it doesn’t have to be. Keeping our ocean free from trash is one of the easiest things we can do to help protect it.

Collaborating with the Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), AmCham hosts another fun day for members to clean up the ocean. There will be participation from a number of AmCham companies’ staff, their family and friends, as well as local students from Ho Chi Minh City.
