AmCham Membership Directory 2012 Final chance for AmCham Members to update or provide company profile to AmCham office. Be sure to submit it to Cindy Tran no later than December 31, 2011. This deadline is also applied for advertisement bookings on this annual publication.

Dec 24 – 31 Carnival Party at Caravelle Hotel From 9:00pm to 1:00am, Saigon Saigon Bar is throwing a Carnival Party featuring music by Cuban bands Luna Negra and Warapo, accompanied by spirited samba dancers, and washed down with newly-created concoctions from behind the bar, such as Saigon Saigon Bar Ciroc, Blue Heaven and Ocean Dream.

Festive Seasons at Caravelle Hotel On New Year’s Eve, the Caravelle’s fine-dining venues, Nineteen Restaurant and Reflections Restaurant, will host festive lunch and dinner buffets with music by a local jazz quartet. The hotel will cap off the year with a week-long Cuban-themed Carnival Party and a Countdown Dance Party at the rooftop Saigon Saigon Bar.

Vietnam’s Most Productive Companies 2011 Profiles International Vietnam has released the report “Vietnam’s Most Productive Companies 2011”, presenting findings of their study on the productivity of over 600 publicly traded companies in Vietnam. The Vietnam’s Most Productive Companies 2011 study focuses specifically on labour productivity, defined as revenue produced per full-time employee or full-time employee equivalent of Vietnam-based companies in 2010.

World Bank Economic Update: Vietnam, Nov 2011 Stabilization gains remain fragile and any premature loosening of policy will risk repeating the recent pattern of recurring instability. Vigorous implementation of fiscal consolidation and structural elements of Resolution 11, including restructuring and reform of the state enterprise sector and the financial sector should help Vietnam return to a more sustainable macroeconomic environment while laying the foundations for greater efficiency and productivity to drive medium and longer term growth. But undertaking these deep, structural reforms will require strong leadership, careful implementation, support from development partners and foreign investors, and some short-term pains.
