AmCham Scholarship 2017_Information Session Recap_Date Sep 16, 2017

Welcomed hundreds of interested students on Sep 16 to a morning session at University of Science. This is the AmCham Scholarship’s 17th anniversary, 2001 – 2017, and 60 scholarships valued at VND 10,000,000 each will be awarded to students from 15 leading universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province.

Nearly 200 students in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province attended the event to learn about the application and selection procedures, and the timeline of AmCham Scholarship 2017. In addition, all the students were interested in hearing the sponsors and AmCham Scholars alumni/ae share their experiences.

Students were welcomed by Mr. Herb Cochran, one of the founders of AmCham Scholarship Program, Senior Director, Vietnam Trade Facilitation Alliance and representatives of sponsors, including Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage, Intel Products Vietnam, AmCham Vietnam Direct Selling Committee, Dow Chemical Int’l Ltd Rep.Office, Unilever Vietnam, KPMG Vietnam, Oriflame Vietnam, Manulife Vietnam, Cargill Vietnam Limited, Nhip Cau Dau Tu Publication, Yola Institute, Talentnet Corporation, APS Co.,Ltd, White Palace, Thai Ha Books and PepsiCo Foods Vietnam.

Mr. Herb Cochran opened the session with an introduction about AmCham and the Scholarship Program.

After that, an overview clip of AmCham Scholarship Program in the last 16 years, its history and outlook was shown in the screen. This year, we welcomed two new universities, University of Economics and Vietnamese – German University.

Next, Mr. Nguyen Cac Thinh (ASA13) shared about the timeline and process to apply for the Scholarship 2017. Then, Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Quynh explained in detail about the online application form highlights.

The event continued with topic: Interview Skills presented by Ms. Ho Thi Bach Quyen (ASA05), HR Director, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam.

Right after that, representatives of Intel Products Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Tran Minh Huy and Ms. Nguyen Vu Tu Anh from Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam were on the stage to deliver their speech to encourage students to participate in the Scholarship program.

Then, there would be a Q&A Session with this year’s sponsors (Mr. Nguyen Tran Minh Huy – Intel Products Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Vu Tu Anh – Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam and Mr. Do Dang Khoa – Oriflame Vietnam) to help students to gain more information regarding testing rounds, career orientation and sharing from corporate representatives.

The hall atmosphere became more lively and open when some AmCham Scholars Alumni/ae (ASA), including Mr. Phan Minh Liem (ASA04), Ms. Ho Thi Bach Quyen (ASA05, HR Director of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam), Ms. Nguyen Vu Thanh Nga (ASA12), Mr. Nguyen Cac Thinh (ASA13) and Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Quynh (Scholarship Lead at AmCham Scholarship 2017) walked on stage and started to share. Beside giving advice and guidance how to prepare good profiles for the screening rounds, our ASAs also recommended on the career orientation and encouraged the students to apply.

The Event ended with Lucky Draw Section. 4 set books (3 books per set) from Thai Ha Books and 4 gift from Yola finally belonged to new owners. Congratulations!

After the event ended, many students stayed on and asked for more information from sponsors at the Information Tables. We hope all the students were inspired and motivated to apply for the AmCham Scholarship 2017.
