Cambodia Investment, Trade & Infrastructure Opportunities Nov 30-Dec 1

When: Wed, Nov 30th 2005 8:00 am to Thu, Dec 1st 2005 2:00 pm
Where: TBD

Strategically located between Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard (“Detroit East”) and Vietnam’s growth-leading region around HCM City and the Mekong Delta, Cambodia is closing the gap to become part of the action, with cross-border road networks, nationwide communications, and comprehensive reform and long range development programs.

With the formation of a much-expanded third coalition government and entry into the WTO, Cambodia now is at an ideal stage of development for trade and investment opportunities. The conference will bring together senior members of the Cambodian government and administration, multilateral agency representatives, technical experts, and business leaders from Cambodian and multinational companies. The speakers, led by H.E. Prime Minister Hun Sen, will highlight:

  • Outlook for key industries, including garments, tourism, agri-business, consumer products, and trans-border commerce
  • Potential for Cambodia in relation to Thailand and Vietnam, including the Thailand Economic Cooperation Strategy, and Greater Mekong sub-region development
  • The role and disbursement of foreign aid, and the creation of a self-reliant economy
  • Foreign investors views of Cambodia’s strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and challenges
  • Identification of key sectors of high potential
  • Infrastructure development needs and roles for public private partnership
  • The legal and business environment, rule of law and security situation
