SUMMARY:Hung Kings' Festival Day 2013 (Holiday)
DESCRIPTION:VN Holiday. Offices closed throughout Vietnam.\n\nClick here
…\n... to learn more about the meaning of Hung Kings’ Festival in Vi
etnam.\n\n“The Hung King’s Temple is located on the Nghia Linh Mountai
 n\, Hy Lang commune\, Phong Chau district\, Phu Tho province\, 85 kilomete
rs northwest of Hanoi. Every year\, a national festival called Hung King
’s Temple Festival is held to worship the Hung Kings\, who were instrume
ntal in the founding of the nation.\n\n“The Festival lasts from the 9th
to 13th days of the Third Lunar Month\, with the 10th being the main day.
The festival offers an opportunity for Vietnamese to visit their land of o
rigin\, and involves\, among other things\, a procession of traditional ca
 kes (“Banh Chung” – a four-cornered rice cake\, “banh day” -a ri
ce pie…)\, “Xoan” folk song contest\, bronze drum beating…\n\n...
more about the Hung Temples\nIn front of the Ha temple\, there is a 1\,00
0-year-old tree. It is in this temple that President Ho Chi Minh had a tal
k with the soldiers on their way to Hanoi in 1954. He told them “The Hun
g Kings had the merit of founding the country\; we must unite to safeguard
it.” Visiting Hung Temple\, you will revert to the original point of th
e country to take pride in the race of fairies and dragons flowing in the
blood of each Vietnamese people!\n\n... more about the Legend of the Hung
Kings\nThe 10th day of the third lunar month is dedicated to commemoratin
g the anniversary of the death of the founder of the Vietnamese nation—t
he first Hung King. The Hung kings ruled the country from 2879 to 258 BC\,
over 2\,000 years. According to historical records\, the regime of the Hu
ng Kings was an impressive\, brilliant and outstanding start for establish
ing Viet Nam as a sovereign nation. The 18 generations of the Hung Kings s
aw the birth and development of a nation and are credited with forging nat
ional characteristics such as the sense of community\, mutual affection\,
patriotism and unwillingness to yield to oppression. From this original se

SUMMARY:International Labor Day 2013 (Holiday)
DESCRIPTION:VN Holiday. Offices closed.\n\n\nMay 1 is International Workers
’ Day (a name used interchangeably with May Day) is a celebration of the
social and economic achievements of the international labor movement. May
Day commonly sees organized street demonstrations by hundreds of thousand
s of working people and their labor unions throughout Europe and most of t
he rest of the world — though\, as noted below\, in neither the United S
tates nor Canada.\n\nInternational Workers’ Day is the commemoration of
the Haymarket Riot in Chicago in 1886\; in 1889\, the first congress of th
e Second International\, meeting in Paris for the centennial of the French
Revolution and the Exposition Universelle (1889)\, following a proposal b
y Raymond Lavigne\, called for international demonstrations on the 1890 an
niversary of the Chicago protests. These were so successful that May Day w
as formally recognized as an annual event at the International’s second
congress in 1891. The May Day Riots of 1894 and May Day Riots of 1919 occu
rred subsequently. In 1904\, the International Socialist Conference meetin
g in Amsterdam called on “all Social Democratic Party organizations and
trade unions of all countries to demonstrate energetically on May First fo
r the legal establishment of the 8-hour day\, for the class demands of the
proletariat\, and for universal peace.” As the most effective way of de
monstrating was by striking\, the congress made it “mandatory upon the p
roletarian organizations of all countries to stop work on May 1\, wherever
it is possible without injury to the workers.”\n\nIn the United States\
, however\, the official Federal holiday for the “working man” is Labo
r Day\, the first Monday in September. This day was promoted by the Centra
l Labor Union and the Knights of Labor organized the first parade in New Y
ork City. The first Labor Day celebration was held on September 5\, 1882\,
and was organized by the Knights of Labor. The Knights began holding it e
very year and called for it to be a national holiday\, but this was oppose
d by other labor unions who wanted it held on May Day (like it is everywhe
re else in the world). After the Haymarket Square riot in May\, 1886\, Pre
sident Cleveland feared that commemorating Labor Day on May 1 could become
an opportunity to commemorate the riots. Thus he moved in 1887 to support
the Labor Day that the Knights supported.\n\nRead more …\n\n

y compliance.  He is the Winner for the Disputes Star of the Year of Viet
nam (2017) by AsiaLaw Profiles.\n\nStephen has received numerous commendat
ions from multinational corporate clients referencing his work.  A prime
example is the endorsement from PETRONAS (Malaysia’s fully integrated oi
l and gas multinational ranked among the largest corporations in FORTUNE G
lobal 500®) as follows:\n\n“ • COMPETENCY – From the interview duri
ng the selection of law firms for acting on behalf of PETRONAS\, we view L
E &amp\; TRAN as possessing core expertise in labor and IR matters\, and h
as strong litigation background / strategic skills in providing legal opin
ion. In addition\, LE &amp\; TRAN confirmed that it could provide speedy t
urn-around time which is a very important criteria for PETRONAS in the sel
ection of a suitable law firm. Our first impression was that LE &amp\; TRA
N readily provided a solution to the current issue presented and added val
ue to our company as well as exhibiting reasonable legal costs / fees.\n\n
 • PROFESSIONALISM AND ACCOUNTABILITY – During the first task given\, i
t was observed that the head advocate and solicitor\, Mr. Stephen (Le Hoan
g Chuong)\, is a highly motivated lawyer who exhibited a desire to achieve
results above and beyond expectations for the best interests of PETRONAS.
Mr. Stephen demonstrated\, especially to our Malaysian colleagues\, a hig
her standard of professionalism than most\, both on a personal and profess
ional level by promoting strong values\, maintaining solid accountability
for his words/ actions and never making excuses in managing any task given
to him by PETRONAS. He accepts responsibility for the decision made and r
emains calm in a crisis or emergency situation.\n\n• FOCUS AND EXECUTION
  – LE &amp\; TRAN proved to PETRONAS its ability to effectively execute
tasks by showing a strong\, unstoppable drive to push forward the completi
on of any assignment given. In addition\, Mr. Stephen’s strength is his
ability to understand and manage his client’s expectations which is cruc
ial to achieve the desired result. Further\, Stephen has the ability to co
nfront others on any issues without fear of adverse arguments. He also rea
lizes how to approach the client in a cordial\, respectful\, and honest wa
 y to address concerns.”\nRegister Online

SUMMARY:Trump\, China\, and The Dual Crisis in America's Asia Policy
DESCRIPTION:Photo Album\nRegister Online\nEvent Description\nA dual crisis
haunts America’s Asia policy at a time when China is challenging the Uni
ted States-led regional order. Early visits to the region by senior Trump
administration officials\, along with intense attention to the North Korea
n nuclear problem\, point to an illusory continuity in Asia policy. Politi
cal squabbling at home and ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan rob Washin
gton of the senior attention and resources needed to blunt China’s rise.
This is the crisis of strategic distraction. At the same time\, an errati
c administration has undermined allied confidence in the credibility of ou
r commitments in the Western Pacific\, as our friends begin to question Am
erica’s long-term reliability as a trustworthy ally. This is the crisis
of American credibility. To discuss this important strategic issue\, join
AmCham for a Morning Briefing on December 1\, 2017 with former US Ambassad
or to Vietnam David B. Shear.\nThe United States and its allies need all t
he diplomatic leverage they can muster as a surging China attempts to resh
ape the Asian region to suit its great power interests. But America’s du
al foreign policy crises threaten to squander this leverage. The crisis of
strategic distraction invites Beijing to fill the gaps between US commitm
ents in Asia and the insufficient resources we devote to fulfilling those
commitments. The crisis of credibility invites our potentially dispirited
allies and partners to either sit on the fence or gravitate towards Beijin
g\, opening further gaps for China to fill. Unsurprisingly\, China’s Pre
sident Xi Jinping is already seeking to fill these gaps by portraying Chin
a as the new standard-bearer for global free trade and Asian regional orde
r.\nGiven the current distaste in both Washington and Beijing for an acros
s-the-board confrontation or general war\, these crises set the stage for
the peaceful erosion of American power in Asia. It doesn’t have to be li
ke this. The right thing for America to do is to implement a strategy of p
eacetime competition in which we compete for influence with China on the b
asis of a coherent\, whole-of-government strategy designed to maximize our
diplomatic and strategic leverage. Our allies and partners can bear with
us not by bandwagoning with China\, but by helping us close the gaps in Am
erican influence. Rather than waiting for Washington to return to normal\,
allies should be taking the initiative to build their own capabilities an
d strengthening cooperative ties among themselves.\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n08:30

nTrade facilitation\, value creation\, and competitiveness : policy implic
 ations for Vietnam’s economic growth\, WB Report\, July 2013\, 3 volumes
 .\n\nComplete Report in Vietnamese\n\nComplete Report in English\n\nThis t
hree-volume report explores the role of trade facilitation and logistics i
n driving export and ultimately national competitiveness. It posits that t
his area of trade consists of three interrelated pillars: (i) transport in
frastructure and logistics services\; (ii) regulatory procedures for expor
ts and imports\; and (iii) supply chain organization. Transport infrastru
cture and logistics services relate to the physical aspects of trade flows
. Logistics services include a variety of services\, the most important of
which are transportation\, storage and consolidation. This summary is org
anized into nine sections. After the introduction\, section two presents t
he conceptual framework for this study. The economic context under which t
rade facilitation is discussed is outlined in section three. It describes
Vietnam’s evolving structure of trade and competitiveness. The country
’s trade logistics is part of this structure and this is germane to unde
rstanding the key issues and solutions proposed. This is followed by discu
ssion of the three pillars of trade facilitation in sections four to six a
nd then section seven presents the institutional framework underpinning th
ese pillars. Section eight then pulls together the diverse roles of govern
ment\, such as setting policies\, acting as regulator\, and being the faci
litator working in collaboration with key stakeholders. The conclusion\, s
 ection nine\, suggests a set of recommendations.\n\n&nbsp\;

SUMMARY:AmCham’s Spring Blood Donor Day 2018
DESCRIPTION:Thanks for joining us this meaningful event. Some photos of AmC
ham's Spring Blood Donor Day: https://bit.ly/2FsErkQ\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nREGIST
 RATION\n\nFor Company\n\nFor Individual\n\nYou may not know that...\n\n E
very 02 seconds there is 01 person who needs blood for treatment.\n Every
time of blood donation 03 lives are saved.\n Tet Holiday is the occasion
of the highest demand for blood.\n\n\nAs predicted by the National Instit
ute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion\, during the Lunar New Year\, the
whole country needs about 125\,000 units of blood to serve the treatment o
f disease. However\, due to the long time off\, the major groups of faithf
ul blood donors\, white-collar workers and students from universities are
leaving for Tet holidays\, which results in the supply of blood products h
as decreased considerably.\nAdditionally\, as reported by the General Sta
tistics Office Of Viet Nam\, in 2017\, in the whole country occurred 20\,0
10 traffic accidents which killed 8\,279 people and injured nearly 19\,00
0 people. Besides\, in addition to routine treatments\, patients who have
appointments scheduled at exactly the New Year holidays will visit sooner\
; inpatients will be considered for blood transfusion (if required) for th
eir leaving for hometown during Tet holidays. Thus the need for blood dona
tion within a month prior to Tet will be significantly increased for reser
ving for blood supplies in the week prior to\, during and after Tet.\n\nAc
cording to reports from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Tra
nsfusion\, the scarcity of blood is occurring especially in the blood grou
p O when only about 1200 units are available as of January 4\, 2018\, whic
h only sufficient to supply within 2 days. Moreover\, every year\, more
than 1 million units of blood are donated. However\, blood supplies satis
fy only about 60% of the nationwide need.\n\nFor those reasons\, The AmCha
m CSR Group is now working with the Hospital of Hematology and Blood Tran
sfusion (BTH) to organize Blood Donor Campaigns that will proceed in spri
ng and summer. The New Year Campaign with the message “Blood Donation Sp
ring. Loving Acts Spreading” is an event in the chain of AmCham CSR acti

e organizations in the retail distribution chain work hard to get product
safety right. However\, some lack the knowledge to fulfill this role. This
training can help fill the gap.\n\nIf your organization employs or is ass

February this year\, the stock market turmoil has sparked concerns that th
e relatively good economic times in the past couple of years\, at least in
the developed countries\, could be ending.\n\nAnalysts suggest that "it i
s too early yet to understand what has just taken place or predict what co
mes next. It is widely agreed that a “correction” has taken place in t
he US stock market. But whether this is just a blip\, or will progress to
a crash\, remains to be seen."\n\nIn this seminar\, we will review what ha
ppened during the financial crisis around 2008. We will then discuss curre
nt stock market fluctuations\, examining the fundamental fallout and perfo
rmance trend in the near future against the backdrop of the mid-term elect
ion. We will also briefly discuss the implications of global investment st
