AmCham HR Committee’s year–end networking event with the theme “How to foster diversity at the workplace – Stories from insiders”

As corporate culture progresses in recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion initiatives, the HR Committee proudly invites you to our year-end networking event with the theme “How to foster diversity at the workplace – Stories from insiders” in Ho Chi Minh City on December 19th. Come hear unique perspectives from representatives of notable multinational companies on how diversity is being fostered at their respective workplaces. From sharing personal stories about coming out at the workplace, to detailing the advancement of specific policies and initiatives, to highlighting the role of mentorship and advocacy, this panel takes a multifaceted look at the nuanced topic of workplace diversity.

We will then have a networking drink for all attendants to catch up with your colleagues and friends in town in celebration of the festive season. The Committee’s leadership will also take this opportunity to reflect what we have done so far in the year of 2017 and listen to your ideas and initiatives for the upcoming year of 2018.

Speakers

Mr. Loke-Khoon Tan, Baker & McKenzie, Hong Kong office

Loke-Khoon Tan is a partner at Baker McKenzie, and leads the firm’s LGBT+ & Allies network for Asia Pacific, which promote policies that recognise the diversity of the firm and aim to create an environment inclusive of everyone. He also sits on the firm’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee, charting global D&I policy.

Loke-Khoon heads the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in Hong Kong and China, and leads the Luxury and Fashion initiative on the Steering Committee of the firm’s Consumer Goods and Retail Industry Practice, working extensively with global brands in this field in several jurisdictions. He is ranked among the leading lawyers for intellectual property by Chambers Asia Pacific, Chambers Global, PLC Which lawyer? and Legal 500 Asia Pacific. Loke-Khoon is a graduate of the National University of Singapore.

Ms. Hang Nguyen, Partner, Baker & McKenzie

Hang Nguyen is a partner with Baker McKenzie and head of the Employment and Labor practice in Vietnam.

Hang’s practice focuses on employment and labor, M&A, Corporate and Compliance matters. Her diverse working experience, broad knowledge in various areas of law, and business management qualifications allow her to provide clients with practical and commercially savvy legal advice, creating effective, strategic and innovative solutions to navigate around the ever-changing legal landscape of Vietnam. As head of the Employment and Labor practice, Hang is in charge of developing and providing strategy for the practice, training and coaching team members and coordinating the global and regional employment practices when related to Vietnam. She is also a member of the Steering Committees for the Firm’s Asia Pacific Employment Practice Group and the Global Immigration and Mobility Group.

Hang received her legal education in both Vietnam and the U.S., obtaining her bachelor’s degree in International Law from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, completing an LL.M. at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, and earning an Executive MBA from University of Hawaii’s Shidler College of Business. Hang is one of the few lawyers dually admitted to practice law in New York State and Vietnam. During her 11 – plus years with Baker McKenzie, she has worked in the Vietnam, Spain and UK offices of the Firm.

Tom Vovers is an Australian human resources professional with over 25 years experience working for large MNC corporations in Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Viet Nam. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Henley Management College UK.  In 2003 he established HR2B. Since then the business has grown and now offers executive search services, payroll processing and staff outsourcing from 3 offices nationwide Viet Nam.With over 70 consultants, HR2B is among the top 3 HR firms in the country.

Mr. Agraj Sharma, Country Manager, P&G Vietnam

Agraj is the Country Manager of P&G Vietnam since 2017, setting the company’s business strategy and driving growth of a portfolio of leading brands across a wide range of segments: Baby Care, Hair Care, Fabric & Home Care, Skin & Personal Care, Feminine Care, and Oral Care.

Agraj has been with P&G for more than 12 years and has driven outstanding business results for various segments with his unique business development approach, as well as breadth and depth of international experience across the company and FMCG industry.

Agraj started his career in P&G India in 2005, and since then has held various leadership positions in sales, trade marketing and commercial leadership in India, Malaysia and Singapore for Fabric & Homecare as well as Health & Beauty sectors. Before being appointed Country Manager for P&G Vietnam, he was Commercial Leader of Asia P&G Professional and China Homecare from 2015 to 2017.

Agraj graduated with a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in 2003, and holds an MBA degree in Marketing from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta. Agraj is married to Ruchika and has a son, Abhyuday who is 3 years old.

Ms. Thu Van (Van Thi Anh Thu) has over 20 years of experience building up and enhancing HR system at world top MNCs in various industries: Unilever, Shell, HSBC, PepsiCo, and most recently Suntory PepsiCo. Such diversified experience equipped her with both profound knowledge of worldwide best practices and expertise to start building up system from scratch.

Having worked for Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage (SPVB) for 9 years, she is now Senior Vice President – Human Resources. She successfully led the team to provide best HR services to business, continuously improved working environment and increased employee engagement. Under Thu’s leadership, SPVB has always been exceeding all KPIs (Turnover, Engagement, Workforce productivity), which makes SPVB to be among top performers in market.

Mr. Tran Manh Hung, Principal and Managing Lawyer of Baker & McKenzie Vietnam International LLC 

Mr. Tran Manh Hung is the Principal and Managing Lawyer of BMVN International LLC, a licensed law firm and IP agent and a member of Baker & McKenzie.

Mr. Tran has represented various multinational and Vietnamese companies in different transactions and projects in a number of different industries including infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, port, retail, distribution, and intellectual property. He also assisted internationally famous brands to establish their investment projects in Vietnam.

Mr. Tran was voted Vietnam Lawyer of the Year (2009) in the National poll of Vietnamese lawyers organized jointly by the Vietnam Lawyers’ Federation, the Ministry of Justice and Vietnam Law Magazine. In addition to authoring many publications, Mr. Tran has lectured at the Hanoi Law University, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Foreign Trade University, an international MBA Program (CFVG) and intellectual property laws for the Professional Training School of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. He used to serve as the Chairman of the Legal Committee of Hanoi American Chamber of Commerce.
