Event Description

The Seminar “Food Safety: Responsibilities of Manufacturers, Distributors, Retailers” is a major activity by the Association of Vietnam Retailers (AVR) and AmCham  to promote understanding of food safety.

The main issues to be discussed at the seminar include:

  • Overview about Food Safety in Vietnam: Assessing the current status of food safety
  • Supply chain of safe food and responsibility of retailers
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Customers’ wants and expectations
  • Best Practice sharing on food safety, standards on food safety in the US; The importance of food safety to health – Dr. Mason Cobb, AmCham Healthcare Committee
  • Food Safety and Hygiene standards – manufacturers’ perspective
  • Overview of Food safety and recommendations for consumers

The aim of the seminar is to connect members of the supply chain, the regulators, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and consumers; sharing and discussing on issues and concerns regarding food safety. This is also an opportunity for participants to exchange information, to enhance mutual understanding, as well as to raise the awareness and their responsibility regarding food safety.

Hội thảo An toàn vệ sinh thực phẩm: Trách nhiệm của doanh nghiệp sản xuất và doanh nghiệp phân phối – bán lẻ là một trong những hoạt động trọng tâm của AVR và AmCham về vấn đề vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm trong năm 2014.

Các vấn đề trọng tâm sẽ được trao đổi, thảo luận tại hội thảo bao gồm:

  • Toàn cảnh An toàn thực phẩm tại Việt Nam: Đánh giá hiện trạng về an toàn thực phẩm
  • Chuỗi cung cứng thực phẩm an toàn và trách nhiệm của nhà bán lẻ
  • An toàn vệ sinh thực phẩm: Mong muốn, kỳ vọng của người tiêu dùng
  • Chia sẻ kinh nghiệm về an toàn thực phẩm , tiêu chuẩn về an toàn thực phẩm tại Mỹ; Tầm quan trọng của an toàn thực phẩm đối với sức khoẻ
  • Tiêu chuẩn của vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm đứng dưới góc độ nhà sản xuất
  • Toàn cảnh Vệ sinh An toàn Thực phẩm và Khuyến cáo dành cho Người Tiêu dùng

Mục đích của hội thảo nhằm kết nối các thành phần trong chuỗi cung ứng, từ cơ quan quản lý, nhà sản xuất, doanh nghiệp bán lẻ cho đến người tiêu dùng, chia sẻ và thảo luận những khó khăn, khúc mắc gặp phải trên thực tế liên quan đến vấn đề vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm.  Đây cũng là cơ hội để những người tham gia trao đổi thông tin, tăng cường hiểu biết lẫn nhau, góp phần nâng cao nhận thức và trách nhiệm của họ trong vấn đề vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm.

Mr. Nguyen Hung LongMr. Nguyen Hung Long – Vietnam Food Association – Deputy Director

Mr. Nguyen Hung Long graduated from Ha Noi Medical University in 1988. In 1989, he started working for National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE). From 1997 to 1998, he pursued Master degree at University of Western Sydney, Australia. Later on in 2000, he worked for Ministry of Health Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control. From 2003 to 2006, Long played the role of Secretary of Minister of Health. He has served as Deputy Director of Vietnam Food Association since 2006. In 2010, Mr Nguyen Hung Long received the Doctor of Medicine degree in Vietnam.

Ms. Bang Kim NganMs. Bang Kim Ngan – Unilever Vietnam – Country Quality Manager

Ngan has a broad and diverse experience in different functions of Supply Chain including Process Engineering, Research and Development, Production and Quality from local to regional scope. Over the years of working for Unilever, Ngan has made significant contributions together with remarkable achievements. Started as Assistant Research & Development Manager in Food category at Unilever Regional Research and Development Center in Shanghai in 2010, she soon acquired valuable experience in Supply Chain. In 2012, Ngan served as Food Plant Manager at Unilever Vietnam. From April 2013 to present, she has played the role of Country Quality Manager at Unilever Vietnam. She holds many highly recognized certificates including ASEAN/GMS Professional on Supply Chain Logistic Management, APICS CPIM, GMP, HACCP.

Mr. Do Ngoc ChinhMr. Do Ngoc Chinh – Deputy Director, Center for Study and Consultation on Consumerism (CESCON), Vietnam Standard and Consumer Association (VINATAS).

Chinh is currently Deputy Director of Center for Study and Consultation on Consumerism – Vietnam Standards and Consumers Assosciation (VINASTAS). Since 1971, he has gained a lot of experience in a diversity of fields such as Foreign Trade, Commerce, Material Engineering and Consumer Protection. He graduated from Foreign Trade University Ha Noi Campus in 1971, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology in 1982. He pursued theKandidat nauk degree at MGIMO in Russia.

Dr. Mason Cobb, Victoria Healthcare International Clinic

He has a 17-year history in Viet Nam.  He was the original General Director of the first private American-Vietnamese international healthcare clinic since the war.  He and his partner then established Victoria Healthcare International Clinics 11 years ago, and have seen it grow into a major contributor to Vietnamese healthcare.
The American Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors has welcomed Dr. Mason’s voice for healthcare interests for the past 4 years.  He also advocates scientific rigor in business and governmental decisions.
An American, Dr. Mason hails from Michigan farm country, but has kept a home near Seattle for the past 20 years.  He continues to do some medical work in USA, and keeps a close eye on cutting edge healthcare developments that can be helpful to Viet Nam. Dr. Mason has 4 children and lives in HCMC.  His wife, Binh Pham Cobb, is COO of the Victoria system and a businesswoman who has developed several successful businesses in Viet Nam.

Ms. Tran Le Hoang AnhMs. Tran Le Hoang Oanh – Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage – Quality Assurance Manager

Oanh Tran is an experienced expert with over 15-year working in Research, Development and Qualitative Assurance, especially in Food Field. Oanh is currently Quality Assurance Manager at Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage. She started her career as Research and Development Manager cum Quality Assurance Manager at Viet Thong Nhat Company from 1997 to 2002. Later in 2003, Oanh joined Unilever as Product Development Officer. She was soon promoted to be Product Development Assistant Manager and Product Development Manager in 2005 and 2007. She holds Master of Chemistry from University of Science Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Ly Kim ChiMs. Ly Kim Chi – Food and Foodstuff Association HCMC – President

Ly Kim Chi has been the President of Food and Food Stuff Association HCMC from 2013. From 2003 to 2013, Chi was the Standing Vice President of FFA. She is currently the Members Board Chairwomen of Nam Long Trading Co. Ltd. She used to be General Director of Tan Dong Hiep Industrial Zone B and Members Board Chairwomen of Vinh Dai Industries Co. Ltd. She held Bachelor of Economics.
