Event Description

Dr. Vinh Quoc Nguyen, Sr. Attorney-at-Law from Tilleke & Gibbins, will discuss the new Land Law and its potential impact on foreign developers at an AmCham Business Luncheon on June 25, 2014.

The National Assembly of Vietnam ratified a new Land Law on November 29, 2013, which will come into force on July 1, 2014. At this event, Vinh will briefly discuss the trends of the new Land Law, and the major changes of the new law and how they will affect foreign developers. The topics will include: (1) The new forms of land acquisition; (2) New conditions for obtaining land; (3) New ways of pricing the land by the government; and (4) New favorable conditions for residential developers. Find out what the new changes will mean to your company, and what opportunities and hurdles you can expect when the new law takes effect.

Speakers

Dr. Vinh Quoc Nguyen is a senior associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group. Vinh has considerable experience assisting clients in real estate development projects. He currently advises Marriott for their projects throughout Vietnam, and a large real estate firm for its complex project in Central Vietnam. Recently, he contributed an article on real estate business in Vietnam for Practical Law Company. For over a decade, Vinh served as a Legal Expert in the Ministry of Justice in Hanoi. Vinh continues to serve the government as a lecturer at Vietnam’s Judicial Academy in Ho Chi Minh City and as counsel to numerous government ministries. In 2012, he was appointed as an arbitrator for the Vietnam International Arbitration Center. Vinh earned his Doctor of Judicial Science from Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo and his LLM from Nagoya University in Nagoya. Vinh has written numerous articles in the corporate, real estate and banking areas in The Saigon Times, the Legislative Study Journal, Vietnamnet, etc.
