The purpose of the committee is to increase the value of AmCham membership for logistics and supply chain related members across all industry sectors. The committee aims to provide a forum to network and discuss related industry trends, challenges, opportunities and regulatory matters. The committee will engage cross chapter with other AmCham committees to drive shared interests in the development of local supply chains and supply chain talent in Vietnam.
• Grow the AmCham membership base of logistics and supply chain companies along with those companies of whom supply chain is of critical importance to success
• Keep members updated about industry, technological, regulatory and other developments
• Support and promote the industry’s development in Vietnam and engage relevant local and foreign groups to encourage positive trends in the industry
• Help address the growing shortage of supply chain talent in Vietnam through promoting industry awareness and events
• Proactively engage regulatory agencies and Vietnam customs to improve efficiencies in the both international and domestic transport and supply chain processes to improve competitiveness of companies operating in Vietnam
• Develop AmCham as the first contact point for member companies to raise concerns & challenges at the relevant government bodies
• Create relevant and meaningful networking opportunities for AmCham membership
• Constructively engage the Vietnam’s political leadership
Amanda Rasmussen is Chief Operating Officer, ITL Corp, one of the largest logistics and supply chain companies in Vietnam and one of Vietnam’s Top 500 largest Enterprises and Top 50 Trusted Brands. ITL is a leading regional solutions provider of Integrated Logistics, Warehousing, Freight Management and Distribution services in Indochina. ITL has 1,500+ employees, headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 70 branch offices and distribution centers in Vietnam along with offices in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.
Amanda has 20 years’ experience in logistics, transportation and supply chain management, having held previous roles in DHL, Maersk, Damco and running her own logistics and supply chain training and consulting company for a number of years. Her specific areas of experience include operational, commercial and general management experience in Logistics, Air freight, Ocean freight, Origin Consolidation, PO Management, Warehousing, Distribution, Supply Chain Management and Value Added Services in the Asia Pacific Region and specifically in Vietnam and South East Asia.Amanda has lived and worked in Vietnam since January 2003 and has been an active member of AmCham since arriving to Vietnam. In additon to the Amcham Board of Governors, Amanda is the Chair for the Logistics and Supply Chain Sector Committee.Born in the U.S., Amanda has an MBA in International Business Systems from Loyola Marymount University and a BA from the University of Tennessee.
Michael Mooney joined Expeditors International of Washington Inc. in 2002. Expeditors is a global shipping freight forwarding company headquartered in Seattle, WA. With over 330 offices around the world and an employee base of 17,000, Expeditors is considered an industry leader in international logistics and supply chain management. Michael spent the first twelve years of his career in a specialized division within the organization – Risk Management & Insurance. During his tenure with Risk Management, he held a variety of responsibilities including claims service, subrogation management, contract negotiations, captive management, underwriting, and various people leadership roles and overseeing the operations globally.
In 2014, Michael made this shift to the core operations and serves as the Branch Manager for Expeditors Detroit District Branch which employs approximately 170 team members. Michael’s main focuses include leading the operations, working closely with Expeditors customers and their account managers, management of the branch finances and mentoring the growing team.
In 2016, as part of a management development program, Michael was sent to Singapore to work on a variety of strategic projects throughout the South Asia Region. Upon completion of that assignment, he took the opportunity to move to Vietnam and currently serves as the Deputy General Director for Expeditors Vietnam, based in Saigon.
Michael is a graduate of the Santa Clara University where he earned his BA in Finance while playing Division I baseball. He received an MBA from Seattle University with an emphasis in leadership. Michael is a licensed US Customs Broker, licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Producer in the State of Washington and holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and AINS designations from the AICPCU organization.
Born in Lake Tahoe, Michael grew up in the California, spent a twelve years in Seattle, 3 years in Ann Arbor, Michigan and currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City with his wife and four kids – Annelise (8), Connor (6), Madeleine (4), and Sonya (2).
Geert V. Doorslaer , DTK Logistics Solutions
Geert has more than 33 year of international experience in logistics. He is Senior Consultant at DTK Logistics Solutions, one of the oldest private Vietnamese freight forwarders, with head office in Ho Chi Minh City, branch offices in Hanoi/Haiphong and Danang. The company offers logistics solutions for the domestic Vietnamese market, and is also specialized in air & sea freight movements in & out of Vietnam on a global scale.
Geert was born in Belgium and started his logistics career in Antwerp, Belgium in 1984. In 1993 Geert decided to expand his horizon by moving into Alexandria, Egypt, where he continued working in the logistics sector for 4 years. In 1997 Geert emigrated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where he worked for Barwil/Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, one of the leading shipping companies in the world. In 2002 Geert joined the Barwil team in Vietnam. As of 2003 Geert was running his own logistics company. Since 2015 he’s been part of the DTK Logistics Solutions Company, and has been meanwhile working & residing in Vietnam for the last 16 years.
Geert joined AmCham in 2016 and was an active board member of the Logistics and Supply Chain committee. He became one of the two Vice-Chairmen of the Committee in 2017. Since September 2018, Geert has been appointed to be Co-Chair of the AmCham Logistics and Supply Chain Committee.
Astrid Vienney, Kuehne & Nagel Vietnam
Astrid Vienney is a seasoned global supply chain professional with over 10 years of international experience. Background working for both MNCs and SMEs; with last 3 years at logistics service provider. Expert at managing complex supply chain projects with a focus on implementing change. Strong at solution design covering warehousing, road, sea and visibility systems. She is also skilled at solving complicated logistics and operations challenges, facing off with stakeholders at all levels. Astrid holds a business degree from ESERP Business School Barcelona and is fluent in 5 languages.
Astrid has been an active member of the AmCham community for the past 5 years including volunteer for the Governors Ball Committee.
We are focused on developing and maintaining a broad base of committee members that represent a wide range of supply chain and logistics members.
