Twelve engineering students received AmCham – II-VI Foundation Engineering Scholarships in a recent award ceremony at the II-VI Vietnam factory.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam – HCM City Chapter) in cooperation with II-VI Foundation awarded 12 merit-based scholarships (VND 10 million each) to engineering students who achieved excellent academic results and participated in many social activities. At the first step, the candidates are required to write 3 English essays and submit at least 2 reference letters from their lecturers or supervisors/managers. All the application packages were screened and selected based on the scholarship’s standard. The second phase of the assessment process was an interview with HR specialists from AmCham and II-VI Company.

The Program has achieved those note-worthy outcomes thanks to the significant support from 4 leading Universities in training high-tech human resources in the South, including:

1. HCMC University of Technology (UT):

  • Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
  • Faculty of Materials Technology (Division of Silicate Materials);
  • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Division of Physico-Chemical Engineering, Division of Inorganic Chemical Engineering, Division of Organic Chemical Engineering);

2. University of Technical Education HCMC (UTE):

3. Cao Thang Technical College:

  • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology;
  • Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology;
  • Faculty of Refrigeration Thermo-Electrical Engineering Technology;
  • Faculty of Automation Technology;

4. Thu Duc College of Technology:

  • Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering;
  • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Faculty of Foundation Sciences; Faculty of Automation Technology.

A special remark from AmCham II-VI Foundation Engineering Scholarship is that the scholarship recipients have opportunities to be considered for the upcoming years, as long as they satisfy those following conditions: GPA higher than 7.0; awarding money being used for academic purposes; working or taking internship for 9 weeks/year at any factory and last but not least, having 3 reference letters from their lecturers or supervisors.

AmCham II-VI Foundation Engineering Scholarship not only provides students with financial aids but also brings more chances for them to know about AmCham and II-VI Company including internship and job opportunities. The Program also supports the candidates to have clear and practical vision for future endeavour. The undeniable benefits from this scholarship attract more and more engineering students to submit their application package.
