AMCHAM VIET NAM AND INTEL VIETNAM LAUNCH “WOMEN IN ENGINEERING” SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

(Ho Chi Minh city, October 1, 2012) American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham) and Intel Vietnam jointly launch a new scholarship program solely for female undergraduate female students. This new program is one of the high-tech human resources development programs the Intel committees in Vietnam.

The scholarship program namely “AmCham – Intel Women in Engineering Scholarship 2012” will provide financial support to top technical university in Vietnam and to encourage more female students studying technical fields and pursuing technical careers. Through the program, AmCham and Intel want to bring more opportunities to female students to go into high teach manufacturing career in Vietnam. 25 scholarships worth VND 8,000,000 each will be awarded in 2012.

Participating universities in this scholarship program includes: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education – Faculty of Electrical and Electronic, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; and Can Tho University – College of Technology: Department of Electricity and Automation Control, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Female students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
•Having cumulative GPA of all previous years 6.5 or above;
•Active in community services and extra-curricular activities;
•Priority will be given to students with financial difficulties
•Not being employed by other companies including Intel.
