Celebrating Art and Cuisine at Square One, Park Hyatt Saigon

Chef Ben & Chef Thang - Square One Chef Benjamin Attwater creates a harmonious journey of culinary and fine art in a special event – “Art and Cuisine” jointly organised with Ben Thanh Art & Frame which will be held at Square One from 20 – 28 April.

“Art and Cuisine” will showcase a series of unique dishes created to reflect the art collection by renowned Vietnamese artists including Dang Manh Ha, Nguyen Luong Tieu Bach, Do Xuan Doan, Tran Thanh Ngoc and Tran Luu Hau, that will be on display. The story of each painting will be described and the dish is skillfully crafted to complement the artwork. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will be a memorable and exciting journey, the first in the city. The degustation menu will be paired with exemplary wines including Kapuka Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand), Gentil Hugel & Fils Riesling (France), Pemperton Reserve Wise Chardonnay (Australia), Torres Gran Coronas Cabernet Sauvignon (Spain) and Dr Loosen Cotation Riesling (Germany).

Each guest will receive a complimentary souvenir booklet containing prints of the artwork, their stories and special recipes to try at home. The paintings that are displayed will be available for sale after the event.

The “Art and Cuisine” experience is priced at VND 990,000++ for a five-course Degustation Menu (without wine) and VND 1,500,000++ for five-course with paired wines, available for lunch and dinner.

About Chef Benjamin Attwater:
Born in Sydney, Australia, Chef Ben completed his chef’s qualifications in 2004. Sydney’s food culture has benefited greatly from its diverse ethnic influences, giving him the opportunity to gain extensive experience in creating international styles of cuisine, which, in turn, provides him with the knowledge to cater to a diverse range of tastes. Chef Ben started his cooking career in 2004 and worked for “Fuze Finer Dining” (Canada), “Le Latini” Italian restaurant; he was most recently head chef at “Eschalot”, the most awarded modern French restaurant in the southern highlands of Australia.

“My love for Asian food and cultures has always made me want to live and work in Asia. This is a great opportunity for me to work at Square One, where I can both expose my strengths in Western cuisines and increase my knowledge in traditional Vietnamese flavours and recipes,” says Chef Benjamin.
