The 43-year-old Dong Nai Bridge, connecting three industrial hubs including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong provinces, can collapse any time, an official has warned.
The bridge links Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.
Colonel Nguyen Phi Hung, provincial deputy police chief, blamed it on the increasing traffic which was overloading the bridge.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport warned the Dong Nai Bridge could collapse if the gridlocks on it continued, and called for building a new bridge to ease the situation.
Crossing the bridge? Those that crossed on Aug 13 noticed a traffic jam as traffic police regulate the number of vehicles on the bridge at one time.
