Sarah Galeski, a lawyer at KPMG Legal specialized in labour and employment law will present legal considerations for business leaders related to severance allowance for foreign and local employees working in Vietnam.

Ms. Sarah Galeski – Attorney, KPMG Legal

Sarah is an Attorney-at-Law specializing in labour and employment law with over 10 years of professional experience. She has worked in Vietnam for the last six years. Before working at KPMG Legal, Sarah worked for another large international firm as a member of the employment and labour group. Recently, as Co-Chair of the Human Resources & Training Committee of EuroCham in Vietnam, she consulted on labour issues for the International Labour Organization and the European Parliament. Prior to coming to Vietnam, Sarah acted as a litigator in Canada on cases ranging from corporate fraud to contractual disputes and employment matters.

Event Description

Most people think that bankruptcy is a bad thing and it will kill a business. However, depending on your strategies, bankruptcy process can actually save a business, give your leverage in other litigation cases or resolve difficult matters that you are encountering. Since you will always be either a creditor or a debtor, you will potentially be involved in a bankruptcy process in the future, and good understanding of such process will be essential to protect your interests.

The workshop will focus on the following critical issues:

  • In which cases should you file for bankruptcy?
  • Who can file for bankruptcy and what are the requirements for filing?
  • Business operation during the bankruptcy process;
  • Power of creditors in the bankruptcy process;
  • Restructuring, declaring the business bankrupt and debts repayment.
