– Mobilizing, gathering, and distributing food and other resources from organizations and individuals, and distributing them to those in need.
– Developing innovative and high- tech programs and systems to help underprivileged people access and receive free or inexpensive food.
– Connecting communities, creating opportunities, and inspiring communities to work together to fight hunger.
Vietnam has made major gains combating the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the country is still experiencing the economic consequences of the lockdown. Many in the country are facing economic insecurity and job loss. Foodbank Vietnam has been working to deliver food to people in need in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Dong Nai Province, serving 2,000 meals per day through its Field Kitchens. In order to follow social distancing guidelines, volunteers from the food bank also deliver lunch boxes via motorbike to people in need.
|Saigon Children’s Charity
CHILDREN ARE THE HIDDEN VICTIMS OF COVID-19
Children are extremely vulnerable during a global crisis like COVID-19. Many are living in households hit by the economic impact of the pandemic, lacking food and money for vital bills, and inevitably their mental wellbeing can also suffer long-term impacts caused by lockdowns and separation. Saigon Children’s Charity is sending “COVID backpacks” for children to care for them physically and mentally. Every “COVID backpack” package that saigonchildren delivers to struggling families contains essential food items to help them with nutritious meals during this time. It also has gifts for the children, to take care of their mental wellbeing when the adults around them may be consumed with worries and stress right now.
So what exactly does a package provide?
– 30kg of rice
– 1 box of instant noodles
– 5 cans of sardines
– 1 package of dry sausages
– 1 bottle of fish sauce
– 1 bottle of soy sauce
– 1 bottle of cooking oil
– Seasoning powder (850g)
– Sugar (1kg)
– 2 bags of dishwashing liquid
– 5 bars of soap
– Children’s books
– Handbook for parents on taking care of children’s mental health
– 1 fabric bag
We need your support to help as many families as possible, as fast as possible, because these families don’t have a lot of time to spare before they go hungry.
