Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam achieved successfully his Bachelor and Master degrees at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). Since 2007, he won a scholarship for his PhD study in Germany at got the PhD degree in 2012. He has spent six years in Germany as a research fellow in solid waste treatments by biological methodologies at Bonn University and worked on the topic of renewable energies (RE) until 2012. Coming back to Vietnam for working as the Division Head of Center for Responding to Climate Change (CliTech) under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) since 2012, he had many activities as being a researcher, policy advisor, national consultant and project manager at several climate change (CC)and RE projects. Besides, he is a member of the editing Broad of Vietnamese Environment Journal (JVE), the member of Vietnam Renewable Energy and is the international reviewer of UNFCCC on technical CC reports. With more than 16-years’ experience working closely with governmental agencies such as MONRE, MOIT, MPI, SBV and many development agencies (UNDP, WB, JICA, ADB, etc.). From 2019, Dr. Nam is supporting the C40 Cities Leadership Group as the climate change advisor to Ha Noi and consulting the city to develop the Climate Action Plan in period 2021-2030 and the vision to 2050.
