Michael Niederberger
Managing Director, Head of M&A, Asia Pacific, LBBW
Michael Niederberger heads Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW)’s mergers and acquisitions advisory department in Asia Pacific, joining the Bank in 2021 with over 23 years of investment banking and M&A advisory experience. LBBW is one of Germany’s largest banks by total assets with offices and branches worldwide.
At LBBW, Michael is responsible for the origination and execution of cross-border M&A, private placement and equity fund raising transactions across a range of industries. He has advised Asian and multi-national corporate clients, founder-led and family-owned businesses, and financial sponsor clients, and he has worked extensively with clients in the energy sector (notably renewable energy, power & utilities) across Asia Pacific.
Prior to LBBW, Michael led ING Bank N.V.’s Corporate Finance (M&A) business in Asia from 2015-2021. Previous experience includes working in the Asia investment banking departments of JPMorgan and The Royal Bank of Scotland
(previously ABN Amro), as well as Daiwa Capital Markets, where he led the renewable energy sector investment banking business in Asia ex-Japan. Michael started his career at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York.
Michael graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. in International Relations). He is an American citizen and has been living in Asia with his family since 2004.
