AmCham “Giving Thanks” Dinner – An Evening to Celebrate Excellence in Community Impact!

Thanksgiving is an annual holiday that Americans celebrate with family and friends in November to give thanks for the harvest and good fortune we have enjoyed throughout the year. AmCham Vietnam – HCMC will commemorate our celebration for Thanksgiving at our Annual Giving Thanks Dinner on November 21, 2024.

At our 2024 “Giving Thanks” Dinner, we will honor and recognize AmCham member companies which have demonstrated ESG Impact. More details on our ESG Impact Showcase Program below.

2024 AmCham Vietnam – HCMC ESG Impact Showcase & ESG Impact Excellence Awards

To honor and recognize excellence in ESG (environmental, social, governance) initiatives and to celebrate AmCham members’ special contributions to positive impact in Vietnam in 2024, AmCham Vietnam – HCMC is organizing the 2024 AmCham Vietnam – HCMC ESG Impact Showcase and Excellence in ESG Impact Awards.

Among AmCham Vietnam – HCMC Chapter’s 550+ member companies and organizations, many have started remarkable journeys towards sustainability and are measuring their environmental and social impact. While striving for economic prosperity, these members are integrating ESG as part of their long-term business strategy, nurturing an ecosystem for responsible business practices in Vietnam.

AmCham Vietnam – HCMC is now seeking applications from members for our 2024 ESG Impact Showcase and Excellence in ESG Impact Awards, which will be presented at the annual Giving Thanks Dinner, on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 1, 2024 (by 5:00 pm).

What’s New in 2024 — ESG Impact Showcase Booklet

Similar to 2023, all qualified applicants selected for the 2024 ESG Impact Showcase will receive a certificate of recognition for their efforts at AmCham’s Giving Thanks Dinner on November 21^st.

For the 2024 ESG Impact Showcase, in addition to receiving a certificate of recognition on stage, we will put together a program booklet with a brief description of the recognized member companies, organizations and their impactful projects. These program booklets will be given to all guests at the AmCham Giving Thanks Dinner.

STEPS TO APPLY

Step 1: Read through this entry briefing document for more information on the eligibility criteria and timeline.
Step 2: Decide which impactful ESG and corporate sustainability initiative or project in Vietnam you would like to highlight.
Step 3: Fill in the online application form. Note: The deadline to submit your online application is 5:00 pm, Friday, November 1, 2024.

OBJECTIVES

Recognize member companies and organizations for their positive environmental and social impact and their contribution to sustainable development in Vietnam
Increase public awareness about ESG and sustainability issues among business communities in Vietnam
Provide an annual platform for showing gratitude and appreciation for member company contributions in Vietnam at the Annual Giving Thanks Dinner.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible, you must fulfill the following criteria and complete the online application in full and on time.

1. General Applicant Criteria

Be a current Member of AmCham’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter in Vietnam (2024)
Be transparent and willing to validate and showcase best practices and significant impact in your application.

2. Sectors (3)

Corporate
SME, Startup, and Social Enterprise
INGO/Nonprofit

3. Fill out the application form where you will be asked to share clear and specific goals, target beneficiaries, and measurable results of the ESG strategy, project, initiative, or solution implemented in Vietnam in the application form.

Below is a timeline of the 2024 ESG Impact Showcase application and selection process:

ESG IMPACT CATEGORIES

In this year’s application, member companies and organizations will be asked to select which category they would like to apply for recognition. Below is a brief description of the categories for reference.

Category 1. Environmental and Social Impact

Recognition will be given to member companies or organizations that have demonstrated significant and measurable environmental and social impact across their value chain and/or in the communities where they work.

Example of relevant strategies, projects, solutions or initiatives for this category are those that engage stakeholders and communities in areas such as energy and water conservation, reducing GHG, circular economy, regenerative agriculture, eco-friendly products and solutions, biodiversity, empowering vulnerable groups, reducing inequality, supporting sustainable livelihoods, long-term community investments and development, and green and social impact financing.

Category 2. Humanitarian Relief and Community Welfare

Recognition will be given to member companies and organizations that have demonstrated significant service to the local communities in Vietnam with support for immediate needs.

Example of relevant strategies, projects, solutions or initiatives for this category are those that engage community-based associations or nonprofit organizations, contribute to humanitarian relief efforts, or provide voluntary service of time, actions, talent, and other resources which address immediate needs of a locality or community.

Category 3. DEIA, Workforce Development, Health & Safety

Recognition will be given to companies and organizations that have demonstrated significant and measurable impact in improving internal organizational development which benefits stakeholders such as leadership, employees, and close partners in your supply chain.

Example of relevant strategies, projects, solutions or initiatives for this category are those that engage stakeholders in areas like workforce development, diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA), improving occupational health and safety, upskilling and learning and development opportunities for target groups in the company and/or supply chain.

ESG COMMITTEE REVIEW PROCESS

AmCham’s ESG Committee is responsible for organizing the panel who reviews applications for the 2024 ESG Impact Showcase. The co-chairs of the ESG Committee will oversee the panel and the review process.
The panel will select companies and organizations for the 2024 ESG Impact Showcase across three impact categories.
They will also select top finalists to be considered for the Excellence in ESG Impact Awards.

JUDGING COMMITTEE & EXCELLENCE IN ESG IMPACT AWARDS

A Judging Committee made up of representatives from the US Consulate, Vietnamese government and AmCham’s HCMC Chapter will review finalist applications for the 2024 Excellence in ESG Impact Awards.
The Judging Committee will select winners.
Winners are NOT informed in advance if they have won an award.
Excellence in ESG Impact Awards winners will be announced on the night of the ESG Impact Showcase and Giving Thanks Dinner on November 21.
