Decree 70/2023/ND-CP (Decree 70) amending Decree 152/2020 regulating foreign workers working in Vietnam took effect from September 18, 2023. Decree 70 is recognized as creating more favorable conditions for businesses in using foreign labor. However, since the effectiveness of Decree 70, businesses may also encounter some difficulties in implementing relevant administrative procedures.
From Personal Income Tax (PIT), there have been no major changes to the regulations for the past few years. However, compliance with PIT is still a challenge for many businesses. These challenges may come from objective external factors such as budget collection pressure and the increasing expertise and competency of tax officials. The challenges may also come from subjective internal factors within businesses such as how companies organize PIT declaration and compliance between the Human Resources and Accounting/Finance departments.
The purpose of today’s session is to provide more information related to the updates on work permit application processes under Decree 70 and the challenges businesses may face during the application. The session will also cover trends in PIT audits, key highlights of PIT-related matters, common PIT management arrangements within companies and their associated risks.
