Christopher CHUAH is the Managing Partner of Christopher Chuah Law Chambers LLC. Praised by clients as “perhaps the best construction lawyer in Singapore” whose “advice is practical, layman-friendly and insightful”, Christopher is recognised for his expertise in the practice areas of construction, dispute resolution and international arbitration.
With over 30 years of experience advising on issues such as front-end drafting, and construction disputes in litigation, arbitration and statutory adjudication, Christopher is highly regarded for his ability to address complex issues and provide strategic and practical advice to his clients. The Singapore Contractors Association Limited and Singapore Institute of Architects are some of the organisations that regularly seek Christopher’s legal expertise with construction contracts and cases.
Christopher’s wisdom in his specialist areas is widely sought after. He has authored a number of publications on building and construction law, and is one of the General Editors of the Singapore Construction Adjudication Review. As an Adjunct Associate Professor in construction law at the Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore, he enjoys training and mentoring the next generation of construction lawyers.
Christopher graduated from the London School of Economics. He is admitted to the English Bar and to the Singapore Bar. Apart from a law degree, Christopher has a Diploma in Surveying (Distinction) from the College of Estate Management, Reading, UK. |

Joanna has 15 years of experience in commercial arbitration, litigation, and advisory work primarily in the construction and infrastructure sector. She is accredited as a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and is amongst the inaugural batch of practitioners recognized as an Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law.
Joanna has extensive experience representing major contractors in large-scale infrastructure, engineering and construction disputes across a wide range of jurisdictions and sectors, often with a multi-jurisdictional or cross-border angle. Having practiced in both Singapore and Hong Kong, Joanna frequently advises and represents clients as lead counsel in a variety of international disputes, including rail and metro, power plant, solar plant, mining, integrated resorts, and commercial and residential building projects across Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and South Africa.
She frequently acts as lead counsel in arbitrations seated both locally in Singapore and internationally, conducted under the rules of the major arbitration institutions, including ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, as well as in ad hoc proceedings.
Joanna was ranked in 2022 and 2023 as a Future Star in Construction by Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific. She is also a contributor to the leading construction law text in Singapore, The Law and Practice of Construction Contracts (2018, 5th Edition), which is frequently cited in leading judgments by the Singapore Courts on issues of building and construction law. |
