Anjanette Saguisag
Chief of Social Policy and Governance, UNICEF
Ani’s passion for child rights has defined her professional career for over 20 years. Prior to joining UNICEF, she worked as a public interest lawyer for women and children. The work expanded to social policy, legal reforms and public investments for children, including work with government agencies, civil society organizations and multi-sectoral councils to strengthen the capacity of the Philippines to implement child protection laws and policies. She joined the United Nations in 2006 focusing on the protection of children from neglect, abuse, exploitation and violence. In 2017, she assumed a strategic leadership role in social policy programming around local governance, public finance for children and social protection systems strengthening. She is currently UNICEF VietNam Chief of Social policy and Governance where she works with a team of talented and highly motivated Social Policy practitioners to provide technical support to the Government of Vietnam to reduce child poverty, advising on inclusive social development and mainstream child rights into social policies, planning and budgeting. Her team also champions child rights and business principles or CRBP which is a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing the impact of business on the rights and well-being of children.
