2009 will focus on fighting corruption and dealing strictly with law-breakers in order to consolidate the public confidence.
A national conference was held in Hanoi on February 27 to discuss issues relating to the prevention and control of corruption and waste in line with the Resolution of the Party Central Committee’s 9th conference.
Among the participants were Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and Truong Vinh Trong, Deputy Prime Minister, member of the CPV Central Committee and deputy head of the central steering committee for corruption prevention and control.
The resolution aims to stamp out corruption, maintain political stability, boost socio-economic development and consolidate the public confidence, while building a powerful and transparent Party and State staffed by incorruptible State employees. It also lays out measures to promote the dissemination of information, increase public awareness and raise the responsibility of Party members, officials and workers when dealing with corruption and preventing waste.
