U.S. Consul General An Le and the International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) – American Academy announced that the school had been accepted into the prestigious Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) program. This is the first time this program has ever been offered outside of the United States and is the first program of its kind in Vietnam. The SUPA program allows high school students to get a head start on their university careers by offering them certified Syracuse University courses during their regularly scheduled high school day.
“Today, I am very pleased to participate in the announcement of a new academic partnership that will allow high school students studying in Vietnam to earn credits from a well-known and respected American university” said U.S. Consul General An Le. “This exciting partnership between the Syracuse University Project Advance program and the International School of Ho Chi Minh City-American Academy will enable students to earn an American university degree faster and more affordably.”
The SUPA program has been offered in the United States for 38 years and has over 8,000 high school students enrolled. SUPA course credits are easily transferrable to over 1,000 universities in the United States, making it a desired program for anyone wishing to study abroad in the U.S.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer a program of this caliber to our students” said Jeff Wornstaff, Superintendent of ISHCMC – American Academy. “This program not only helps high school students achieve their university degrees in a shorter amount of time but also exposes them to university courses now so that they are better prepared for the work ahead of them.”
The International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) has been successfully graduating students to American and other overseas colleges and universities since 2005. ISHCMC – American Academy offers a comprehensive academic program built upon the principles and standards of the American education system and is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City that is fully accredited by both The Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC), two of the most prestigious international school accreditation organizations.
