Renaissance has been entering students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education exams for 4 years now and has seen students achieve great success. The Cambridge IGCSEs as they are more familiarly known, are sat by 16 year old students in many countries worldwide. They are a recognized standard and allow schools to judge student’s ability and potential for studies in the International Baccalaurean Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the final two years of schooling.
This year’s results at Renaissance were excellent with 4 of our students being awarded 8 Grade As when the results were released by the Cambridge exam board. One student from Vietnam became our most successful yet with 6A*s and 3 As and joins an elite group of students worldwide to succeed at that level. Studying for 8 or 9 IGCSEs can be hard work but the benefits are great.
Students with such certificates are recognized for completing a British style examination. They are recognized by universities in both Asia, Europe and North America as being a leading 16+ certification. Furthermore the exams themselves are excellent preparation for IBDP study. The growth in schools offering the exam is testament to the fact they give a student’s resume genuine credibility.
Renaissance School is dedicated to supporting academic success and although only 7 years old is now recognized as a leading international school in Ho Chi Minh. Smaller and more family orientated than some of the bigger schools in the city, the results show that small classes, attention to detail and most importantly strong and individual support for students, does bring success.
That success was recognized in a special Renaissance celebratory assembly on Friday 18th October. Students were awarded their IGCSE certificates, but that was only half the event as leading students were presented with their scholarship certificates. Renaissance recognized the top students with 100% scholarships for study in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. With such a strong core of students in the IB Programme Renaissance can expect some outstanding IB results and university places once these students graduate in 2015.
