Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp. ground-breaking for a $ 13 million auto factory in Dong Nai (FDI)

Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp started building a $13 million automobile manufacturing plant in the southern province of Dong Nai on Wednesday.

The plant is slated to turn out 5,000 cars in the first year of operations, starting in March 2013, and plans to raise its output to 10,000 units and 20,000 units per year in the following years.

With an aim to localise its production lines at the factory by 50 per cent, Suzuki Viet Nam may export auto components to other Suzuki automobile plants in Asia, including those in Thailand, Indonesia, India and Pakistan. Those countries would also export components to Viet Nam, said Osamu.

Toshiba to design LCD TVs in India, Vietnam

Aug, 16, 2011. Toshiba Corp will begin designing LCD televisions for local markets in India, Indonesia and Vietnam in October to challenge Samsung Electronics Co and other South Korean rivals, the Nikkei business daily reported.

The company is set on boosting its worldwide LCD TV sales to 25 million units by fiscal 2013, up 80% from fiscal 2010, the daily reported.

Toshiba aims to have emerging countries account for 50% of its global TV sales in volume terms in fiscal 2013, the paper said.
