Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City opened two microchip design laboratories, worth US$20 million in total, funded by leading US-based electronic design companies.
Mentor Graphics and Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) equipped each lab with a server, 20 laptops and chip design software.

Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnamese language: Đại học Quốc gia Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) is one of the two largest national universities in Vietnam (the other is Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
