East West Corridor Week, 27 Aug – 01 Sep
The East-West Corridor stretches 1,450 km across Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, from Mawlamyine in Myanmar to DaNang City in Vietnam. It is one of the key economic corridors in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), which aims at deepening integration and trade, investment linkages, and reducing poverty in the region. When the road infrastructure is completed, the EWEC may well become not only a dynamic development hub, but also an important link connecting the Greater Mekong Sub-Region to huge markets in Northeastern and Southern Asia. The Government of Vietnam has decided to organize the EWEC Week 2007 from August 27 to September 1, 2007 in DaNang City with a view to promoting trade, investment and tourism opportunities of the EWEC to business leaders within and outside the region. Dong Nai Bridge can collapse at any time
The 43-year-old Dong Nai Bridge, connecting three industrial hubs—Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong—can collapse any time, an official has warned. It is ” … safe, unless overloaded … ,” according to the Ministry of Transport, but, of course, it is overloaded. So, … be careful when crossing.
Saigon Tourist to increase rooms in HCM City

Vietnam’s higher hotel prices reduce number of tourists
In the first 6 months of this year, occupancy rate at Vietnamese hotels has averaged 90-95 percent. In Ho Chi Minh City the figure is 99 percent, with most high-end hotels full.
