Chris Muessel selected as Chair of AmCham Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City
At the January 2007 meeting of the Board of Governors, Chris Muessel was elected, Chair for 2007. Other new faces include Jocelyn Tra, selected Vice Chair, and Dao Nguyen, selected Secretary. Walter Blocker was selected as Vice Chair (Immediate Past Chair), and Landis Hicks, Treasurer. Article V of the AmCham Charter provides that officers of each Chapter are selected by the Board of that Chapter from among the board members at the first Board meeting following the Annual General Meeting and from time to time as vacancies arise.

U.S. Quotas on Textile and Apparel Imports from Vietnam Eliminated on and after Jan 11, 2007
Vietnam entered the WTO on January 11, 2007. As a result, the U.S. eliminated quota, and visa and ELVIS requirements for goods exported from Vietnam on and after January 11, 2007. The quota levels set forth and amended in the aforementioned documents remain the same in the adjusted period (1-10 Jan 2007.)

U.S.-Vietnam apparel trade future uncertain
Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen had earlier said that Vietnam applied to join the WTO with two major aims: to be treated equally in global trade and to get quotas removed from its textile and garment exports. But, the threat of self-initiated anti-dumping suits remains.
