Request for Comment re proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement The United States intends to initiate negotiations on a Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement with Singapore, Chile, New Zealand, Brunei Darussalam, Australia, Peru and Vietnam. The interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee (TPSC) will convene a public hearing and seek public comment to assist the United States Trade Representative (USTR) in amplifying and clarifying negotiating objectives for the proposed agreements and to provide advice on how specific goods and services and other matters should be treated under the proposed agreement.

Government “Industrial Relations Centres” to tackle labor disputes Reported figures indicated that work stoppages had risen year on year, from 139 in 2003, to 147 in 2005, to 541 in 2007 and to 649 in eight months of 2008. In total, there were 2,555 strikes in Vietnam between 1995 and August of 2008, of which 72.4 per cent occurred in FDI firms.
