Sa, Nov 15 Consular Club of Ho Chi Minh City Charity Bazaar The Consular Club, a non-profit organization of volunteers representing all Consular missions in HCMC, requests support for its annual Charity Bazaar. All funds raised will support projects to help those disadvantaged in and around HCMC and southern Viet Nam.

Fr, Oct 24, Chilean Vintages Enliven the Caravelle. A Chilean winemaker will introduce a half-dozen vintages from Vina Ventisquero. Rafael Vargas Araya will host a wine maker’s dinner, pairing selected labels from the Vina Ventisquero vineyard to dishes on the Caravelle’s new, Scandinavian-influenced international Reflections menu. The recent appointment Swedish executive sous chef Andreas Askling introduced Nordic flair to the Caravelle table, and a new Reflections menu that opens up a world of new flavours. Seats for this event are limited.

Vietnam tries journalists for “abusing freedom and democracy” And two police officers for “deliberately revealing state secrets.” The journalists were arrested for reporting on a corruption scandal at the Transportation Ministry in 2005 and 2006, which led to the conviction of nine people accused of betting millions of dollars on European soccer matches with money embezzled from PMU-18, a unit that managed major road and bridge construction projects. PMU-18 received substantial funding from the World Bank and the Japanese government.

Temasek’s Mapletree to build $ 400 million business park in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam The 75-hectare business park will be built in phases starting from 2009. Mapletree visited Vietnam as part of an AmCham Singapore Trade and Investment Mission in January 2008 to explore opportunities.
