Employees strike over social insurance According to the statistics supplied by the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, hundreds of enterprises nationwide owe insurance agencies nearly VND2,000 billion ($ 125 million) in contributions.
Sun Microsystems, NIIT partnership to boost Vietnamese training About 13,000 individuals have registered using Sun’s software and systems solutions in Vietnam, which include the Solaris Operating System, Java technologies, Sun Fire systems and Sun StorageTek. Established in 2003, NIIT Vietnam has trained more than 6,000 Vietnamese students and professionals and operates 28 training centers in 14 cities and provinces nationwide.
U.S. firm to pay $ 300,000 to resolve Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations in the Philippines The Securities and Exchange Commission filed a settled civil action charging a U.S. international freight transportation company, with FCPA violations. According to the complaint, a Philippines-based firm controlled by the U.S. firm made approximately $ 417,000 in improper payments to foreign government officials between 2000 and 2003. Without admitting or denying the allegations, the U.S. firm agreed to pay a $ 300,000 civil penalty.
