Nov 4-8 U.S. Commerce Secretary to lead Mission to Vietnam
U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez announced he will lead a business development mission to Vietnam in late 2007. The mission will highlight export opportunities for U.S. businesses, and is the first Secretarial Business Development mission to visit Vietnam.

APEC: The Price of Success
APEC’s growing power is most clearly on display when it tackles issues such as climate change and consumer product safety. The Pacific Rim is the center of global greenhouse gas emissions, so the APEC nations must be involved. More than two-thirds of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions come from APEC nations. The product safety question is how to dramatically improve quality assurance while maintaining a level playing field in terms of costs in low-cost production countries such as China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

Dong Nai Bridge Traffic Diversion to start Aug 20
Beginning August 20, vehicles seating seven passengers or less and heading towards Ho Chi Minh City will be diverted to the Hoa An bridge, also located in Bien Hoa city.
Dong Nai Bridge may collapse at any time
The 43-year-old Dong Nai Bridge, connecting three industrial hubs—Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong—can collapse any time, an official has warned. It is ” … safe, unless overloaded … ,” according to the Ministry of Transport.
