18th Round to be held in Malaysia July 15th - 25th.In their work during this 10-day round, the negotiating groups covering services, government procurement, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, trade remedies, labor, and dispute settlement moved their work forward significantly. The TPP countries also successfully advanced work on the other legal texts, including technical barriers to trade, e-commerce, rules of origin, investment, financial services, intellectual property, transparency, competition, environment and other issues. On the more challenging issues of intellectual property, competition, and environment, negotiators had productive discussions and agreed on next steps to continue their work.

To support its fast expansion and suit the needs of customers in Vietnam
.The new investments will enable DHL Supply Chain to widen its warehouse space in Vietnam to more than 141,000 square meters by 2015 from 91,000 square meters at present. The company also plans to grow the transportation fleet by over 160% to deploy more than 100 vehicles in the next two years. DH expected to grow its staff strength by over 170% from its current 800 employees in its operations in Vietnam in the next three years, after  doubling its headcount in Vietnam in the last three years from 400 to the current 800 staff. "Growing talent and training is key for DHL.".
 
In 2011, SOEs posted a ratio of net profit to capital invested of 59 percent, while the figures at private and foreign segments were as high as 80 and 93 percent,. 13 leading SOEs collectively posted accumulated losses of VND48.99 trillion ($2.34 billion). Electricity of Vietnam accounted for 78 percent of the losses. Le Dang Doanh, former head of the Central Institute for Economic Management, said SOEs could increase capital more easily and were likely to edge out private and foreign firms to win bids for major projects. 
After Bangladesh, Seeking New Sources

When a senior executive from one of the largest American mass-market retailers called last week with worries about suppliers in Bangladesh and plans for a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia to seek alternatives, the  advice: "I told him to add a stop in Indonesia." The relentless search for new locations has taken on more urgency after the deadliest industrial accident in the global garment industry's history, a multistory factory collapse in Bangladesh that left 1,127 people dead. 
  
$40 million high-quality cotton yarn factory with 25,920 spindles. The parent company, established 1919, is one of the leading yarn and fabric manufacturers in S Korea. The factory's designed production capacity of 6,600 tons of yarn per year. When the plant is extended in its second and third phase (with registered investment of $160 million), it will be the largest mill in Asia, said Kim Joon, General Director of KyungBang Group.

 
Rumor says Google makes more money in Vietnam, a country of about 90 million, than in Indonesia, a country of almost 250 million people. Vietnamese companies are obviously eager for business and growth, and Vietnamese consumers are eager to shop. So Google Adsense coming makes sense, especially as smartphone usage booms in the country. In the announcement, Google also posted Vietnam's "hockey stick growth" for internet penetration. Google can no longer ignore Vietnam:
 
Six industries including consumer electrics/electronics, food processing, ship building, agriculture machinery, environment and energy saving, automobile/car part manufacturing have been defined as the six key industries which would receive the special support to develop within the framework of the Vietnam - Japan cooperation program.
 
 
Bribery within Vietnam's public sector remained widespread and even continued to increase in 2012, according to results of a national surveyCenter for Community Support and Development Studies (CECODES), the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). 44 percent of respondents to the survey nationwide agreed that it was necessary to pay bribes in order to obtain public sector jobs, up from 29 percent from 2011. Bribery was required to access medical care and secure land-use rights increased 11%, up to 42% and to 32% percent respectively.
  
The National Steering Committee for Tourism will present to the Government draft policies meant to make it easier for international tourists to come to Vietnam, including the loosened visa policy proposal. An official of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration told the Daily that the visa-free policy should be maintained for the seven major markets, including Japan, South Korea, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Besides, the visa-free stay for tourists should be 30 days instead of 15 days like now.
