As we celebrate this significant day, we invite you to delve into the profound words of the Declaration of Independence by reading its complete transcription. This enduring piece of American history is preserved by the U.S. National Archives.
Did you know that the American Declaration of Independence served as an inspiration for Vietnam’s own Declaration of Independence? On National Foundation Day, September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh echoed the timeless words of the Declaration of Independence, emphasizing the principles of equality, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. His poignant opening words resonated with the spirit of freedom and self-determination:
“‘All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.’ This immortal statement was made in the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776. In a broader sense, this means: All the nations on the earth are equal from birth, all the nations have the right to live, to be happy and free.”
