Ryan Hollowell is a Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. In this role, Ryan is the CS Ho Chi Minh City lead for the Aviation, Energy and Digital Economy industries.
Prior to Ho Chi Minh City, Ryan was the Regional Commercial Officer and Digital Attaché for ASEAN in the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. In this role, Ryan oversaw efforts to promote U.S. business expansion into Singapore as well as help coordinate and streamline Commercial Service programs throughout the ASEAN region with a focus on the energy, environment, financial services, ICT and smart cities sectors. As the Digital Attaché, Ryan assisted U.S. companies across ASEAN, helping them navigate the policy challenges they faced with a focus on cybersecurity, cloud computing, FinTech, cross border data flows and data localization.
Prior to this, Ryan served as a Senior International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service in the Northern New Jersey Office, as well as the Leader for the Department’s Renewable Energy Sub-Sector Team. Ryan has served as the Director for International Business Development for Lumi•Solair, a New York City based grid-free renewable energy solutions provider. In his role, he oversaw the company’s business efforts abroad, with a primary focus on Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. Prior to joining Lumi•Solair, Ryan served as an International Trade Specialist representing the U.S. Commercial Service in the New York U.S. Export Assistance Center in Manhattan covering the renewable energy, oil & gas, financial services, automotive, aerospace, defense, and safety & security industries. During that time, Ryan assisted in closing more than $2.2 billion worth of energy transactions around the globe and played a key leadership role in re-starting the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Financial Services Team, training over 200 colleagues around the world.
Before joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ryan spent two years on Capital Hill working for a 14-term Congressman and an additional two years with a lobbying firm where he assisted in the startup of their climate change lobbying practice.
Ryan holds an M.B.A. in Finance and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business from Xavier University.
