Event Description
The October 1 HCMC-U.S. Healthcare Dialogue: Realizing the Vision of HCMC as a Regional Healthcare Hub is a partnership between AmCham Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City leadership, and the U.S. Mission in Vietnam. Coordinated by AmCham Vietnam-HCMC and Da Nang’s Healthcare Committee, the event will feature keynote remarks by HCMC and Vietnamese leaders, as well as by the U.S. Ambassador and Consul General, and panel discussions on: Social Responsibility and the COVID-19 response partnership; a Roadmap for HCMC as a National and Regional Healthcare Hub; and U.S. Healthcare Partnership and Innovation in HCMC. The event will also feature the launch of AmCham Vietnam’s 2020 Healthcare White Book, highlighting the innovative products and services U.S. Healthcare companies offer in Vietnam, as well as policy recommendations to promote the health and wellness of Vietnam’s population and support the growing strength of Vietnam’s healthcare industry. A reception will follow, including the opportunity to visit exhibits of sponsoring firms.

She has been working in Health Care industry in emerging market (Vietnam) for 22 years with almost 7 years in Medical devices industry. Her passion is leading people to grow the business with the ultimate goals are to impact Vietnamese patient’s lives by improving education and access to innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solution. Thu Ha graduated with an MBA from Bolton University. She also holds a Bachelor of Language from Humanity Social Science University and Doctor of Medicine from Medicine University, Ho Chi Minh. |

![]() DGHP Program Director USCDC Dr. Moore joined CDC’s Global Health Security Team in September 2016 as the resident advisor to Vietnam’s Field Epidemiology Training Program. In that role, he was responsible for supporting the development of the epidemiology workforce that can rapidly identify and report acute public health events. In 2018, he was named director of the Global Health Security Program at CDC Vietnam. In that role, he has overseen the expansion of surveillance and laboratory activities along with the integration of immunization activities into the GHS portfolio. During the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam, he served as the incident manager. Before arriving in Vietnam, Dr. Moore worked as a medical epidemiologist at CDC in Atlanta for 14 years. During that period, he supervised multiple officers in CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service in activities ranging from investigations of large outbreaks of respiratory infections to development of international immunization policy. He has supported field epidemiology efforts in Burkina Faso and Thailand and served as a consultant to multiple countries and WHO in Geneva. Dr. Moore is board certified in infectious diseases with training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his masters in epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service program. |
![]() Partner, Economics and Regulation KPMG Singapore Paul is an economist with over 22 years’ experience in Australia, the Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has previously been based in Beijing between 2000 and 2004 and Hong Kong from 2008 to 2012. He has a strong analytical background and specializes in providing strategic economic advice to guide policy, planning and decision making both within Government and the Private Sector. He has advised on economic development, major infrastructure project with capital costs up to $35 billion, productivity and innovation, policy and regulatory instruments, fiscal incentives, governance and institutional frameworks. He has also led assessments to derive GDP contributions, and FDI inflows for national economies, the economic costs of national payments systems and the impact of Free Trade Agreements. He has Bachelor degrees in Economics and Science and Masters degree in Economics from the University of Queensland, Australia. |
![]() Healthcare Industry Executive Microsoft Asia Pacific HQ, Singapore Ankita leads the Healthcare Industry strategy for the Provider space for Microsoft Asia Pacific covering Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, New Zealand and Vietnam. She leads the decision making for Microsoft’s solution strategy and partner eco-system to meet the needs of Healthcare and Lifesciences customers in APAC. ![]() CEO City International Hospital Dr. Lucas is the CEO of City International Hospital which is the Amcham hospital for the Hoa Lam – Shangrila Healthcare Park in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City. Prior to coming to Vietnam, Dr. Lucas served as a director of numerous Boards of hospitals, physician groups and health insurance companies over a 40-year career as a practicing physician and healthcare executive. Upon his retirement, Dr. Lucas became a JCI surveyor and a Malcolm Baldrige examiner. He is a graduate of University Alberta Medical School, the Harvard School of Public Health and is Board certified in Family and Preventive Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physician Executives. |
![]() Managing Director Representative Office of Merck Sharp & Dohme (Asia) Ltd in HCMC Koen is the Managing Director of MSD in Vietnam & IndoChina. The IndoChina region covers Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. Koen began his career at Organon in 1987 and worked in positions of increasing scope and responsibility in Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. He joined MSD while working as Managing Director of Schering-Plough in Romania. After MSD acquired Schering-Plough, he was appointed Managing Director of MSD in Egypt. He later was named Executive Director of MSD’s Institutional Business (IBA) and focused on institutional family planning and vaccines in sub-Saharan Africa. Koen also held the position of Managing Director of the French West Africa region. Koen holds a Master of Science in Business Economics and Management Information Systems from the State University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He is member of the Board of Directors and Co-chairman of Pharma Group, representing the pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam, and Co-chairman of the Healthcare Network of AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. |
![]() Head of Southeast Asia Government Affairs Varian Medical Systems Berwine is the Head of Southeast Asia Government Affairs at Varian Medical Systems. Varian is a global oncology technology company which provides innovative and cost-effective solutions for cancer treatment. Varian specializes in radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy, brachytherapy and oncology informatics software. With an Intelligent Cancer Care approach, Varian harnesses advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics to enhance cancer treatment and expand access to care. Prior to her current role, Berwine served with the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for more than 10 years. At the MFA, she advanced Singapore’s public policy priorities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations. Berwine also served at the Singapore Embassy in Thailand from 2013 to 2017. Berwine and her team received the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award in 2016 and 2017 in recognition of performance over and above the call of duty. Berwine holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology. She is a novice gardener. |
