According to the latest research study by Aetna International “Expatriate mental health: Breaking the silence and ending the stigma”, Mental health is a growing issue for expat workers, their employers, and those relocating independently across the globe. Depression emerged as the most prevalent condition (50 percent prevalence increase), followed by anxiety (28 percent prevalence increase), and women between the ages of 30 and 49 were the most likely to seek treatment.

Dr. Miguel Fernando Dinis de Seixas
Psychiatrist – Family Medical Practice FMP

Dr. Miguel undertook his psychiatric studies in the U.K. following the completion of a medical degree in Portugal at the University of Porto. He trained in Cambridge and London and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry from the General Medical Council, U.K.

Prior to joining the team at FMP, Dr. Miguel worked as a community psychiatrist in Cambridge, treating a variety of mental health conditions affecting the local population. He has worked in various capacities as a consultant psychiatrist, both within inpatient and outpatient departments, and has led a number of mental health inpatient and community psychiatry services, including a specialist community psychiatry service for people with complex personality disorders.

Dr. Miguel was a founding member of the Sustainability Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and was a clinical teacher and undergraduate tutor for medical students in the School of Clinical Medicine of the University of Cambridge until his arrival at Family Medical Practice.

Over the years, Dr. Miguel has served as a clinical supervisor for doctors at different levels in psychiatric or general practice training. He has treated people suffering from depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal tendencies, and those who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and schizophrenia. Outside of work, he greatly enjoys reading and picking up fresh knowledge from good books.

Mr. Bill Watson,

Bill is the Managing Director of Coats Phong Phu, a 30 year old joint venture between Coats Group plc and Phong Phu Corporation.  Coats has a rich heritage dating back to the 1750s, and is the world’s leading industrial thread manufacturer.  Headquartered in the UK, Coats employs 19,000 employees in over 60 countries across 6 continents around the world.  Bill has a degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and first came to Asia with Milliken Chemical, div of Milliken & Co in 1994 to set up their speciality chemical business in Asia.  With experience in manufacturing, commercial and general management, Bill has led multicultural, diverse teams for over 25 years in Asia, and has specific expertise in change management, culture building and leadership, teamwork, risk management and compliance.  In his current role at Coats he leads 3000 people and is responsible for the business which includes 5 manufacturing operations across South East Asia.  Bill is a kid at heart and enjoys golf, playing games, hanging out with family and friends, and making people laugh.

Diana Watson
Founder, Maison du Magnolia

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Diana attended the prestigious Fu Dan High School and furthered her studies in language and education at Shanghai Teacher’s University.  After college, Diana was employed by a large, Swiss textile machinery manufacturer specializing in silk printing, working for 8 years in both China and Hong Kong.  She took a break to raise a family, and upon arriving in Vietnam in 2010 began to get deeply involved in the local community and in business once again.  She is currently Public Relations Director for the Hong Kong Business Association of Vietnam, and since 2015 has been the Honorary Chairwoman for the Saigon Children’s Charity Summer Ball, which raises funds in support of disadvantaged children in Vietnam.  Diana is also the founder and owner of Maison du Magnolia, producing a variety of luxury towels for the Vietnam market.  Initially self-taught, Diana has been a passionate practitioner of yoga since 2013.  She received her yoga teacher training certification in 2016, and practices yoga daily to improve her mental and physical health.  Diana loves to travel, and share her experiences through photography.
