Matt Millard
Founder and CEO, PurpleAsia
Matt Millard’s career began at Trailfinders, which in the late 1980’s was rapidly evolving into the European industry leader in independent luxury global travel. In 1993, he moved to Bangkok and co-founded a successful travel company in partnership with Central Retail Group. As a result of the challenges of the 1997 currency crisis, which led him on a new path, Matt relocated to Vietnam in early 1999. There, he joined Vidotour, a burgeoning destination management company, where he tripled the size of the business in 2 years, before taking on a group role at Destination Asia, overseeing nine markets as Group Director of Sales and Marketing.
In 2002, Matt founded Purple Asia, which has grown into one of the most respected hospitality and tourism branding agencies in Asia. His projects now span across the Asia Pacific from the Maldives, to Japan, Kenya, and beyond with brands created and built for brands like Raffles, Banyan Tree, Swissôtel, Mövenpick, InterContinental and many more.
Despite this broad reach, the Vietnam national tourism brand remains one of his most passionate and heartfelt obsessions.
