SGS accredited as a 3rd Party Certifying Body for FDA and FSMA in Vietnam (Food Safety FAQ)

SGS has been accredited for two FDA programs under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA): Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) and Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP). These two programs allow expedited entry through Customs into the USA for Vietnamese food facilities/exporters certified under these programs.

This is great news for Vietnam in general and food facilities in particular.

Vietnam is a major exporter of food products to the U.S., about $3.746 billion a year.

Vietnam food facilities will now be able to obtain certifications under the FDA Qualified Voluntary Import Program (VQIP) or the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP). In addition to facilitating exports to the U.S. from the certified facilities, the programs will support “technology transfer” of food safety systems technology from the U.S. to Vietnam, thus improving Vietnam’s domestic food safety system.
