Statement of Interest/Vision
It has been a privilege for me to serve on the boards and as Vice-Chair for both Chapters of AmCham HCMC and AmCham Hanoi in 2023-2024. My mission has been to promote common grounds for both Chapters and to foster channel of communications to address differences so that two Chapters can work together toward having a national voice. While significant progress has been made in 2024, the two Chapters still have work to do together for the remaining of 2024 and in 2025.
Externally, I have been representing AMCHAM in meetings with central government in Hanoi, city government in HCMC, Danang, Hue, and local government in several provinces. Notably, I chaired the AmCham healthcare committee’s dialog with HCMC People’s Committee.
Also, it was my honor to be selected by both AmCham Chapters to be the Co-Chair of Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) for 2024. VBF represents 15 chambers of commerce including AmCham, EuroCham, JCCI, KoCham, VCCI, AusCham and several others.  Since 1997, VBF is a policy dialog channel of the business community both foreign and domestic with the government of Vietnam.  As the legal representative of VBF, I approve and sign policy papers prepared by VBF 13 working groups and submitted to the government of Vietnam. These policy papers had input from member companies of AmCham. I chair VBF meetings with the minister of MPI, HCMC People’s Committee, National Congress Economic Committee, and especially the annual meeting with the Prime Minister.
I would like to see more AmCham activities involved Vietnamese companies from whom we could learn their business practices, their view of American companies, their suggestions, and the opportunities of cross networking. As the country head of Boeing Vietnam, I have been inviting executives of the airlines, suppliers, and partners in aviation to participate in selective functions and to become members of AmCham.
