East West Corridor Week, 27 Aug – 01 Sep
The East-West Corridor stretches 1,450 km across Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, from Mawlamyine in Myanmar to DaNang City in Vietnam. It is one of the key economic corridors in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), which aims at deepening integration and trade, investment linkages, and reducing poverty in the region. When the road infrastructure is completed, the EWEC may well become not only a dynamic development hub, but also an important link connecting the Greater Mekong Sub-Region to huge markets in Northeastern and Southern Asia. The Government of Vietnam has decided to organize the EWEC Week 2007 from August 27 to September 1, 2007 in DaNang City with a view to promoting trade, investment and tourism opportunities of the EWEC to business leaders within and outside the region.
