Mimi Vu is a partner at Raise Partners, a consulting practice that helps nonprofits, philanthropists, private sector, and governments work together to achieve their highest social and environmental impact. She also serves as a Board Member of the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. Mimi has 20 years of nonprofit experience in communications, policy, fundraising, law enforcement training, trafficking and modern slavery prevention in supply chains, program development, and advocacy for organizations including Pacific Links Foundation, Vinacapital Foundation, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted Vietnam’s fast-growing tourism industry, but it also gave the tourism and hospitality sector an opportunity to hit the re-set button. During this time, stakeholders in Vietnam are developing new sustainable tourism polices, practices, and products that will continue to drive growth in the sector while offering protection and appreciation to the very things that make Vietnam such an attractive destination for tourists: People, environment, and culture. One of these policies and practices must center on increasing awareness and setting standards for child protection in travel and tourism, as Vietnam is still an emerging market that has been and continues to be a desirable travel destination for perpetrators from all over the world. Our guest speaker, Mimi Vu, will discuss the specific steps that travel and hospitality stakeholders can take to not only prevent the exploitation of vulnerable children, but also protect Vietnam’s tourism recovery and boost its global reputation as a premier destination for sustainable tourism.
