Geert van Doorslaer, Senior Consultant, DTK Logistics
Geert has more than 33 year of international experience in logistics. He is Senior Consultant at DTK Logistics Solutions, one of the oldest private Vietnamese freight forwarders, with head office in Ho Chi Minh City, branch offices in Hanoi/Haiphong and Danang. The company offers logistics solutions for the domestic Vietnamese market, and is also specialized in air & sea freight movements in & out of Vietnam on a global scale.Geert was born in Belgium and started his logistics career in Antwerp, Belgium in 1984. In 1993 Geert decided to expand his horizon by moving into Alexandria, Egypt, where he continued working in the logistics sector for 4 years. In 1997 Geert emigrated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where he worked for Barwil/Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, one of the leading shipping companies in the world. In 2002 Geert joined the Barwil team in Vietnam. As of 2003 Geert was running his own logistics company. Since 2015 he’s been part of the DTK Logistics Solutions Company, and has been meanwhile working & residing in Vietnam for the last 16 years.Geert joined AmCham in 2016 and was an active board member of the Logistics and Supply Chain committee. He became one of the two Vice-Chairmen of the Committee in 2017. Since September 2018, Geert has been appointed to be Co-Chair of the AmCham Logistics and Supply Chain Committee.
Trang Nguyen, Senior Director, Vietnam, Regulatory and Government Affairs, FedEx Express Asia Pacific
Trang is Senior Director for Vietnam, Regulatory and Government Affairs FedEx Express Asia Pacific. Previously, she was the Director and Country Representative at a consultancy firm Asia Group Advisors for 1.5 years. Under her leadership, the company revenue increased five-fold during.
Prior to consulting, Trang worked for the US-ASEAN Business Council in Hanoi, where she provided Fortune 500 companies support and advice to understand, assess and mitigate reputational, regulatory and political risks affecting their operations in Vietnam. Earlier, Trang was an Advocacy and Communications Specialist in various international NGOs such as Action Aid, UNDP, and Plan International, where she provided technical assistance to government agencies. Trang has also worked as a journalist in Vietnam Television, and Fashion Newspaper. She also spent five years working in the business sector including two years as Head of Business Promotion Department for Hanoi Business Associations.
Trang has a wealth of public affairs experience, especially with government engagement and crisis management. Trang has spent 20-years building deep relationships with the business, political and civil-society leaders in Vietnam.
Trang has a Masters degree from Vietnam National University where she studied International Relations in 2007-2009.
Astrid Vienney, Senior Manager, International Supply Chain – Vietnam, Kuehne + Nagel Ltd.
Astrid has 15 years’ experience in International Business. She is a Swedish national residing in Vietnam for 9 years. Since 2016 Astrid heads up the International Supply Chain Department at Kuehne + Nagel Vietnam. Kuehne + Nagel International AG is the no.1 Seafreight forwarder in the world; a global transport and logistics company based in Schindellegi, Switzerland founded in 1890. Kuehne + Nagel Vietnam has been operating in Vietnam for 27 years and has over 700 employees in the country, 4 office locations and country wide warehouse footprint. Astrid’s position covers Control Tower, Operations, Solution Design, supply chain engineering teams and end-to-end management of complex company supply chains in Vietnam with ~50 staff. Prior to joining Kuehne + Nagel, Astrid worked for DHL Global Forwarding and their International Supply Chain product. Before that she was with Hewlett-Packard in Europe and Asia driving Order Management initiatives and managing key accounts. Astrid has been active in the AmCham community since 2013, supporting to organize events such as the annual AmCham Governors’ Christmas Ball and Breakfast with Santa. She previously held the Secretary, followed by the Co-Chair position of the Logistics and Supply Chain Committee and in 2022 was appointed Vice Chair. Astrid is passionate about helping AmCham members and businesses in Vietnam solve logistics challenges, progress and thrive.
Ky Nguyen, CEO/General Director, Cai Mep International Terminal
Ky is CEO of Cai Mep International Terminal, a joint venture of Danish APM Maersk Group and VIMC & Saigon Port. Ky spent 15 years in Senior Management of CMIT which is major deep-water container terminal in Cai Mep serving VN-US trade majorly and is the only termal being able to handle 20,000 TEu container vessel in Vietnam.
Ky has served 3 years as independent non-executive Board Director of Port of HaiPhong in the Northern Vietnam.
Ky is FTU graduate and has Maastricht MBA degree. Later Kỳ also graduated APMT Magnum Global Leadeship Development program.
Tuan Nguyen, Managing Partner, ANT Lawyers
Mr Tuan Nguyen is the Managing Partner of ANT Lawyers and has overall responsibility for the management of the firm. As one of a few lawyers in Vietnam with business background, with over 20 years of experience, Mr Nguyen has advised and represented clients including international companies, international organizations of all sizes and individual clients whom are interested in doing business or needing legal services or representation in Vietnam in Transportation, Logistics, Shipping, and the compliance of the related industries among others. Besides, Mr Nguyen is also a mentor at Warwick Business School to supervise MBA candidates whom undertake graduation projects. Mr Nguyen obtained a B.A Degree from Foreign Trade University, Vietnam, LL.B. Degree from Hanoi National University – School of Law, Vietnam, and MBA Degree from Warwick Business School, UK. He is a member of the Hanoi Bar Association, Vietnam Bar Federation. Mr Nguyen is accredited mediator by Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (UK), and Vietnam Ministry of Justice, and Weinstein JAMS International Fellow in Alternative Dispute Resolution (US). Mr Nguyen has worked for and with a number of MNCs, State Owned Enterprise (SOE), and private enterprises in various positions in management, compliance, and in-house counsel before practicing law. He has two years of experience working in the United States.
Ngan Nguyen, Head of Government Relation and Corporate Affairs, Cai Mep International Terminal
Ngan works for Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) for 11 years with exposure in different functions of Planning/operations, Commercial, Government relations and Corporate affairs.
CMIT, a joint venture of Danish APM Maersk Group and VIMC & Saigon Port, is a deep-water terminal in Cai Mep – Thi Vai port complex, Ba Ria- Vung Tau province, which serves container mother vessels connecting Vietnam trade directly with major markets at the US, Europe,…CMIT now is the only terminal being able to accommodate container vessels capacity up to 20,000 TEU in Vietnam.
Soren Schouw Pedersen, Vice President, SSA Marine, Seattle USA
Soren Pedersen is a Danish national and has worked in Asia for more than twenty five years. He is the head of SSA Marine regional activities. SSA is an international port operator headquartered in Seattle, USA. The company is active in more than 250 locations across five continents. SSA’s activities span cruises, bulk, and container handling.
Here in Vietnam, SSA owns and operates two seaport joint ventures employing about 400 staff. Our port facilities in Cai Lan (Ha Long) and Cai Mep (Vung Tau) are equipped with the most modern and technically advanced cargo handling machinery available. Both terminals are deep water facilities capable of accommodating the largest cargo and cruise ships.
Maritime transport is essential to the world’s economy as over 90% of the world’s trade is carried by sea. Ships need effective port facilities to load and off load cargoes. SSA Marine is among the world’s largest privately held port operators.
